TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY I wrote my first column in this esteemed newspaper. Amazingly, I haven’t missed a Saturday in 1040 Saturdays. I’ve missed plenty of deadlines, but always made it under the wire due to the grace and mercy of a long succession of patient

Lodi News Sentinel folks.

CONGRATULATIONS to Miyuki Nishio on the successful SALE of her Lodi six-plex! This is a story for my book... Miyuki found us online. She showed up at the office on the day her foreclosure became final. She had lent money to a person who remembered to COLLECT rents from the tenants but forgot to PAY Miyuki. The property was in disrepair. The tenants were unhappy. Miyuki lives in the Bay Area and was unable to handle this major rehab project.

WHO YA GONNA CALL? I called Shelley Nolen, owner of Harvest Property Management!  Shelley is a savvy can-do property manager. She took on the project, turned the building around over the next few months, and got it fully rented at fair-market rents. Then Kristina Heisler and I got it SOLD!
